NEVADA EVENING JOURNAL, Nevada, Iowa, Monday, December 23, 1946, page 1. "Ernest H. Peter, 74, Story City, Dies Saturday - Story City, Dec. 23 - Ernest H. Peter, 74, lifelong farmer of west of Story City, died Saturday night at 7:30 at the home of his sister, Mrs. George Mitchell. He had been ill for two days. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon beginning with a prayer service 12:30 at the Mitchell home followed by services 1 p. m. at St. Paul's Lutheran church west of Mackey, Iowa. The Rev. H. M. Zagel will be in charge. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery. Mr. Peter, who never married, is survived by two brothers, Lewis, Independence and Henry, Boone, and four sisters, Mrs. John Moller, Mrs. Minnie Klippel, and Mrs. George Mitchell, all of north of Boone, and Mrs. Fred Kading, Lone Rock."
