THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, March 13, 1924, page 1, column 1. "MRS. MATTIE PENQUITE - The death of Mrs. Mattie Penquite occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Florence Stevenson, at Huntington Park, Calif., after a brief illness, Tuesday, March 4th. The body was brought back to her home at Colfax, where the funeral was held Monday. Mrs. Penquite, who was a sister of Mrs. L. R. Shepherd, of Los Angeles, Calif., leaves to mourn their loss, two daughters, Mrs. Florence Stevenson and Mrs. Ila Mulcahy, and one son, Dr. Harry Penquite, her husband having passed away a number of years ago. Those from Maxwell attending the funeral were, Mrs. A. C. Cole and Mrs. C. A. Wickard."
