THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, June _, 1902, page 7, column 3. "Mesdames C. T. Byers and Simon Meyers attended the funeral of Ed. Penn in Des Moines Monday. Mr. Penn formerly lived on a farm near here and is well known by the early settlers. He was engaged in the implement business in Des Moines for a number of years but had to give that up sometime ago on account of his health. Mr. Penn was a loyal citizen, a man of sterling worth and a great public benefactor."
