DEATHS
ERNEST G WIGGIN, JR
Funeral services for Ernest G. Wiggin, Jr. were held in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 17 with Pastor C. A. Gisselquist officiating.
Mrs. Harold Olson was organist Mrs. Clara Anderson, soloist, sang "Heaven Is My Home" and "Den Store Hvide Flok." The hymn "Abide with Me" was sung by the audience.
Burial was in the Sheffield Cemetery south of Story City with military services at the graveside.
Pallbearers were Magne Idse, Arnold Johnson, Orville Owenson, Gene Twedt, Reuben Nibe and LaVerne Pierce.
Ernest George Wiggin, Jr., was born March 18, 1895 in Story City to George and Nina Wiggin. He passed away at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines on May 14, at the age of 78 years, one month and 26 days. He graduated from the Story City High School with the class of 1913.
Before enlisting in the United States Army on December 3, 1917, he attended the University of Iowa, at Iowa City and college in Crawford, Nebraska. He served with the American Expeditionary Forces for nine months and after his discharge from the army he returned to Story City, where he resided until his death.
On September 14, 1922 he was united in marriage to Bess Myrah. To this union two sons were born, Donald Douglas of San Jose, California and Ernest George III of Indianapolis, Ind. In May of 1941 a daughter was adopted, Wanda Jackson of Ames.
Jim as he was better known was employed by the Story City Light and Power Department for 44 years. He was a member of Lafayette Post 59 of the American Legion for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Vere Wiggins of Story city and Max Wiggins of Washington, D. C. also a brother and a sister who died in infancy.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Gwendolyn McDowell of Nevada, Iowa and Mrs. Zella Bickelhaupt of Story City.
