JOHN HERMANN

John Hermann, 83, of Slater, died late Wednesday afternoon at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames where he had been admitted Monday.

Hermann was born Dec. 25, 1889, in Polk County and had farmed about two miles south of Slater until retirement to Slater.

He was a World War I veteran.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Salem United Church of Christ of Alleman, with Rev. Rueben Eversman officiating. Interment will be in the Sheldahl cemetery.

The body will lie in state until noon Saturday at the Riis Funeral Home in Slater.

Survivors include four sons Paul of Ames, Robert of Ellicott City, Md., John of Omaha and James of Cedar Rapids, two brothers Adolph of Madrid and George of Sheldahl, one sister Mrs. Anna Peterson of Sheldahl, 13 grandchildren and on great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his wife.
