Edwin L Moeckly
Funeral services for Edwin L. Moeckley, 37, were held Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church at Huxley The Rev. Marvin E. Nygaard was in charge of the service using as his text II Timothy 1:9-14.
Mrs. Jacob Lee was the organist and accompanied Arlin Severson who sang "The King is Coming" and "How Great Thou Art."
Casket bearers were Norman Albaugh, Marvin Nichols, Raymond Moeckly, Earl Reinhart and Henry Volz. Interment was in the Fjeldberg cemetery.
Obituary
Edwin Leroy Moeckly, son of LeRoy and Georgia Moeckly, was born at Des Moines, Ia. on December 10, 1935.
He attended the Franklin Rural School in Polk County and graduated from Ankeny High School in 1953. He also attended Iowa State University in Ames.
On Dec. 22, 1956 he was united in marriage to Katherine Elizabeth Thompson at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley. This union was blessed with four children, Carla Kay, who died in infancy, David, Mark, Bradley Thompson and Anne Marie.
For 16 years, Ed was engaged in farming in the Polk City-Elkhart area. He was currently president of the Polk County Farm Bureau and secretary of the board of the Enterprise Farmers Elevator. In 1970, he was honored as the Outstanding Young Farmer of Polk County.
He was a 4-H club leader for 10 years and in 1972 was honored with the Outstanding Alumni Award. He was a member of the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church where he server as a council member and a teacher of the ninth grade Sunday school class.
Mr. Moeckly died at his home in Elkhart on Friday, Jan. 19 of cancer.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his love, devotion and courage his wife Kay, two sons David and Brad, a daughter Anne Marie, his parents Mr.. and Mrs. LeRoy Moeckly of Polk City and Marvin of Detroit, Mich., his mother-in-law Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson of Ankeny.
