THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, August 29, 1957, page 1, column 1. "SARAH MYERS. - Last rites for Sarah Myers, 79, whose death occurred Friday, August 16th, at the Gilmore Nursing Home, in Nevada, were conducted from the Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell on Monday, August 19th at 2:00 o'clock with the Rev. George Yetter, of Maxwell officiating. Mrs. Jean Mohler accompanied by Mrs. Madeline Summitt, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." The flowers were arranged by Susie Dunlap and Mrs. Doris Canney. The casket bearers were sons-in-laws of the deceased. They were Finley Stebbins, Jimmie Weatherman, Jake Myers, Roy Myers, Harold Teldt and Archie Otto. The final resting place was in the Zearing Cemetery. Sarah Bovender, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Bovender, was born near Yakinville, North Carolina on June 19, 1878 and passed away at the Gilmore Nursing Home in Nevada on Friday evening, August 16, 1957 at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 29 days. She fell in her home in Maxwell Thanksgiving evening 1956 and broke her hip and has failed in health until her death. She was united in marriage September 10, 1893 to John C. Myers, of Yakinville, North Carolina, who with two infant sons, have preceded her in death. She is survived by fifteen living children, 28 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, also two living sisters, Amelia Brown, of New Castle, Indiana and Bertha Bovender, of Winston Salem, North Carolina. The surviving children are: Mary Jane Stauffer, of Marshalltown, Ia.; Luther Myers, of Colo, Ia.; Wilfred Myers, of Turlock, Calif.; Ada Mesler, of Des Moines, Ia.; Gertie Myers of Monroe, Ia.; Myrtle Myers, of Mitchellville, Ia.; Etta Otto, of Nevada, Ia.; Laura Teldt, of Clinton, Ia.; Lester Myers, of Nevada, Ia.; Lloyd Myers, of Ames, Ia.; Donald Myers, of Ames, Ia.; Dale Myers, of Nevada, Ia.; Fred Myers, of Maxwell, Ia.; Lou Ellen Stebbins, of Maxwell, Ia. And Lois Weatherman, of Omaha, Neb. Mrs. Myers was of a quiet unassuming person.** She made many friends, a kind and good neighbor and leaves to mourn her departure a large number of friends and neighbors. She was a kind and considerate wife and thoughtful and painstaking mother, always mindful of the needs and comforts of the members of her amily.** Kind and remembrance attend her departure,** but the seperation** need not be permanent. Mrs. Myers companion, mother, sister, daughter has gone to be with her Lord and await the glorious summons of the resurection** morning." "CARD OF THANKS. - We wish to express our appreciation for all the kindness shown us in our sorrow over the loss of our mother. The neighborly spirit was exemplified in so many ways that words cannot describe. It most deeply impressed us and the appreciation of the same will not be forgotten. May our thanks go out to all such and a hope that if such a grief should ever come to you, it may be accompanied by the same tender ministers.
