Businessman Bert Vinsel dies
Nevada resident mourned today the death of well-known civic and business leader Herbert M. Vinsel, 85, who died at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames early Tuesday morning.
Vinsel, who lived at 634 F Ave., Nevada had been transferred to Mary Greeley Hospital from Nevada a short time before his death.
Born October 28, 1886 at Russell, Iowa he was the son of John A. and Ella B. Vinsel. He had been a Nevada resident for the past 66 years and had become well known as a real estate broker. He helped found the Nevada Federal Savings and Loan here.
On July 11, 1935 he married Miriam Rowland at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
He was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church here, a 50-year member of the Nevada Rotary Club, a 50-year member of the Nevada Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star, a charter member of World War I Barracks and American Legion.
Surviving, in addition to his wife Miriam, are one daughter Mary Ellen Boeke of Jusmag, Thai Bankok, two granddaughters and a brother, Kenneth P. Vinsel of Louisville, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and his first wife, Hazel Addison Vinsel in 1933.
