THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, Dec 12, 1895, page 5, column 4. "SUDDEN DEATH - Miss Effie Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Miller, died very suddenly at her home near Mr. Zion church, last Thursday. Her parents only an hour previous, had left her in apparently good health, and came to town to do some trading. They had not been here but a short time when a messenger came after them and informed them of the sudden illness of their daughter. Physicians were summoned, and accompanied her parents home, but were too late, as death had claimed its victim a few moments before their arrival. The sudden death remains a mystery, as an inquest held did not develop any direct cause. The funeral was held at the Mt. Zion church Saturday, conducted by Rev. Wendall. The church was crowded with sympathetic friends and neighbors, who had gathered to pay their last respect to one whom all had loved, and a young lady who from all appearances, had a bright and pleasant future before her. Miss Miller worked in Maxwell last summer, and was a very pleasant and cheerful disposition, making friends of all with whom she became acquainted. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of the entire community."
