THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, October 24, 1963, page 1, column 5. "FLORENCE B. MEYERS. - Florence Birdella Hutson, daughter of Louis and Hana Tomlinson Hutson, was born March 22, 1878 and departed this earthly life October 19, 1963, at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 27 days. She was married to Daniel Samuel Meyers October 21, 1907 and was a member of the Indian Creek church of the Brethren. Five children were born to this union. After living and farming south of Maxwell all her life, she moved to Maxwell in 1957 after the death of her husband. After a long illness and failing eyesight and hearing she passed away at the Sunny Crest Nursing Home in Nevada, Iowa, where she had been a patient for over two and one-half years. Preceding her in death were: one infant son, born June 10 and who died June 17, in 1910; one daughter, Hattie, born January 16, 1916, who died June 27, 1934 and her husband, Daniel, who died December 4, 1956. Survivors include three sons, James of Boone, Rollie and Harvey of Maxwell; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Services were held at the Maxwell Church of the Brethren, Monday, October 21, 1963, with Rev. Harold Smith officiating. Alice Gooden sang, "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me" and "The Lord is my Shepherd" accompanied by Louise Smith. Margaret Meyers and Evelyn Alder were in charge of the flowers. Casket bearers were Ray Gooden, Keith Meyers, Kenneth Meyers, Sam Meyers, Everett Meyers, Paul Atkinson and Dale Meyers. Interment was in the Brethren Cemetery."
