THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, March 15, 1923, page 1, column 2. "J. W. McNABB. - John Washington McNabb was born in Florence, Ontario, Canada, May 9, 1854, and died at his home in Maxwell, March 7, 1923, at the age of sixty-eight years, nine months and twenty-eight days. He grew to manhood in Canada and was united in marriage to Miss Alma A. Yokom, of Crowland, Ontario, Canada, January 9, 1878. To this union eight children were born, two of whom died in infancy. He came to Parkersburg, Iowa, in 1879. Moved from there to Eldora, Iowa, and later moved to Hubbard, Iowa. After spending some years in Hubbard he came to Maxwell in December, 1894 and engaged in business and has since made Maxwell his home. He united with the Methodist church in his youth. Later he united with the Church of Christ at Hubbard. Upon moving to Maxwell he placed his membership in the Church of Christ. He was active and deeply interested in his church life, holding many positions in the life of the congregation. He served as a deacon for many years and was teaching a class in the Bible school at the time of his death. He leaves to mourn their loss, the wife companion of many years; four sons, Dustin W., Vancouver, B. C.; William H., Maxwell; Io A., Cedar Falls, Iowa; John W., Cedar Falls, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. W. B. Clark, Ames, and Mrs. W. H. Smith, Marshalltown, Iowa. Two brothers, C. E. McNabb, of Shell Lake, Wis., and J. D. McNabb, of Page, Neb., all of whom were present at the funeral except Dustin, who was unable to get her in time, but who arrived Monday. A nephew of Shell Lake, Wis.; brother-in-law, W. W. Yokom, and niece, Mrs. Clarence Sprague, of New Hartford, were also present. Mr. McNabb had made many friends who will miss him greatly. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, B. A. Gann officiating and the remains were laid to rest in the Maxwell cemetery." "Card of Thanks. - ___ ___ ___gratitude for the assistance and many expressions of sympathy on the part of our friends during our bereavement in the loss of our beloved husband and father. Mrs. J. W. McNabb and children."
