THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 31, 1901, page 1 column 3. "Colo - While crossing the track early Thursday morning, George McArthur was struck by a fast mail train and must have been instantly killed, judging from the appearance of his body, his neck and back were broken, one limb and his face were badly mashed. It was an awful sight to look upon. A still sadder one to think of as he was wholly unprepared to leave this world. Rev. Bamford pastor of the Evangelical church preached the funeral sermon on Friday and the remains were place in the Colo cemetery."
