JOHN H. NORTON
ZEARING--Funeral services for John H. Norton of Fort Dodge were held from the Christian church in Zearing Oct. 4 at 2 p. m. Interment was in the Zearing cemetery. The Rev. John Bartlett was in charge of the service.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Marvin Gee with Mrs. E. A. McKinley as organist. Casket bearers were Orville DuPey, R. H. Adkins, Mel Crouse, Home Davidson, Wade Vasbinder and John Morgan. Mr. Norton was born at Earlville, Ill., Feb. 21, 1873. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Norton. He moved to Zearing with his parents when he was nine. Norton attended the Zearing schools and was married to Miss Isabelle Ruxton in Story county Nov. 24, 1897.
The Nortons moved to Fort Dodge in 1913, He had been in failing health for several years. He entered the Mercy Hospital Sept. 14 and underwent surgery at that time.
Mr. Norton was a number of the First Christian church and was an elder of the church at the time of death. He had also served as church secretary-treasurer.
He was a member of the Pacific Masonic Lodge of Zearing, Aurora Chapter, Order of the Easter Star in Fort Dodge, and the Scottish Rites Temple of Des Moines.
Surviving him are his sister, Mrs. Mae Thatcher of Fort Dodge and nieces and nephews. His parents, four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
