THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 16, 1919, page 1. "RAY EDWIN LONGNECKER - Ray Longnecker, son of Mrs. Sophia Longnecker, died at the home of his mother here last Sunday, the immediate cause of death being blood clot on the brain, the result of an accident sustained about a year ago. Ray Edwin Longnecker, son of Lee and Sophia Longnecker, was born at Bondurant, Iowa, august 4, 1887 and passed away at Maxwell, Iowa, January 12, 1919. At the age of nine years he moved with his parents to Altoona, Iowa, where they resided for one year, after which they moved to Maxwell, where he has since made his home. When fourteen years old he united with the Church of Christ at Maxwell and retained his membership here up to the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his departure his loving mother, two sisters and one brother besides many other relatives and friends. His father preceded him to the Great Beyond about eight years ago. Funeral services were held from the Church of Christ Tuesday afternoon, conducted by W. Edward Purdy. Songs were rendered by a male quartet composed of C. B. French, Ross Olinger, Martin Troup and Harold Lingenfelter, with Mrs. Frank Boitnott at the piano. The pall bearers were: Rot Miller, Cloy McClintock, Harry Troup, Ernest Wood, Wm. Worrel and Marion Scott. The body was laid to rest in the Maxwell cemetery. CARD OF THANKS - We desire to thank the friends for their many kindnesses during the illness and death of our son and brother. - Mrs. Sophia Longnecker, Frank Longnecker, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Knox, Mr. and Mrs. C. I. Kirk."
