THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, August 19, 1926, page 1, column 1. "MRS. WM. KALTENHEUSER. - The funeral services for Mrs. Wm. Kaltenheuser, who died very suddenly early Friday morning, at her home on the J. R. Bodger farm, northwest of this city, were held from the Church of Christ, at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, with Rev. DeLoss Marken officiating. Christena Emma Kappleman, daughter of Peter and Mary Kappleman, was born February 10, 1873, in Polk county, Iowa and departed this life, August 13, 1926, at the age of fifty-three years, six months and three days. April 6, 1891, she was united in marriage to Wm. Kaltenheuser, who with five children survive. Three children died in infancy and those who are left to mourn their mother's departure are: Mrs. Amos Webb, of Clarke county; George, Eddie, Willis and Pearl, all of Maxwell. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Kate Kaltenheuser, of Elkhart; Mrs. Mary Rhem and Mrs. Barbara Manderbach, of Denver, Col.; three brother, Peter, Fred and William Keppleman, all of Polk City; four grandchildren, Roberta Webb, Lavon, Freddie and Edwin Kaltenheuser. Lavon, whose mother died at her birth, was taken into the grandparents' home and tenderly cared for and mothered by Mrs. Kaltenheuser. When a young girl, Mrs. Kaltenheuser gave her heart to God and united with the Evangelical church. Since moving to Maxwell she attended the Church of Christ. She was always a patient sufferer, a gentle and loving mother, a devoted companion, a kind neighbor, and was loved by all who were privileged to know her and will be greatly missed by a host of friends as well as her family. A characteristic of Mrs. Kaltenheuser was being able to see the good qualities of every one she knew. She reared her own monument while she lived in the hearts of all who knew her. Her life work was completed if work all done and well done constitutes completion. Card of Thanks. - We wish to thank all our kind friends and neighbors for the sincere sympathy shown us in our recent bereavement in the loss of our dear wife and mother. The kindly assistance of all and the floral tributes were greatly appreciated. Wm. Kaltenheuser and Children."
