MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, April 11, 1907, page 4: "OBITUARY - Oliver S. Hutson was born in Henry county, Indiana, June 30, 1834, and departed this life April 2, 1907, at the home of his son, George, in Des Moines, being at his death seventy-two years, nine months and two days old. Deceased was married to Satira Cowgill in October 1853. To this union was born four children, James H., Joseph B., George T. and Lucy E., all of whom were at his bedside during his last sickness and death except James H. who died in June, 1879. Mr. Hutson came to Iowa in 1855 locating in Peoria City, where he resided until 1877 when they moved to Des Moines. On January 17, 1899, his wife died, since which time he has made his home with his children where everything was done that could be done to make his life pleasant until his death which was due to cancer of the liver. He united with the M. P. church at Peoria City forty-five years ago, in which relation he remained until removing to Des Moines, where in 1892, he united with the M. P. church of that city, in which relation he lived a consistent christian life until his death. Deceased leaves to mourn his loss two sons and one daughter, Joseph B., George T. and Mrs. Lucy Graham, all of Des Moines; also two sisters and one brother, M. L. Hutson and Jane L. Swarm, of Peoria City, and Mary Gibson, of Farrar. The funeral sermon was preached in the Peoria church to a large congregation by Rev. McVey, of the Peoria charge, assisted by Rev. Howery, of Collins, after which the body was laid to rest in the Peoria City cemetery by the side of his wife and son. The remains were brought to Maxwell by train on the 4th accompanied by his two sons and wives, his daughter, Mrs. Graham, and husband, four grandchildren and Mr. Aldrich, of Des Moines, also Mr. and Mrs. Danielson, of Rockwell City. Hutson desire to tender their heartfelt thanks to their friends for their kind assistance during the funeral and burial of their dear father and especially we most kindly thank the choir and janitor.
