MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, June 27, 1912, page 2: "OBITUARY - Carrie Alice Hutson was born in Peoria, Polk county, Iowa, May 19, 1893, and died at the home of her father in Peoria, June 22, 1912, aged nineteen years, one month and three days. Alice was a girl of sweet and loving disposition. She was a teacher in the Sunday school at Peoria and sang in the choir until about one year ago when she was stricken with that dread disease, tuberculosis, and gradually declined until the end came. For several months past she was confined to her bed. She suffered much, but endured patiently and uncomplainingly and was seemingly resigned to her fate. She told her pastor a few days before her death that all was well and that she faced the future fearlessly and without dread. Deceased was received into the church last winter by her pastor upon profession of faith on her bed of sickness. Several years ago she started to live a religious life, but did not unite with church at that time. I believe Alice was full resigned and ready to go and that she sleeps in the arms of Jesus. She has gone to meet her mother and two sisters who have preceded her to the Great Beyond within the last few years. She leaves behind to mourn, a father, two sisters, Mrs. Birdella Meyers and Mrs. Alta M. Kirkman, of Peoria, and many friends. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Peoria church by her pastor. A very large crowd was present to manifest their appreciation for the dead and sympathy for the surviving relatives and friends. Interment was in the beautiful Peoria cemetery. C. J. Nutt.
