STORY CITY--Funeral services for H. I. Olson were held Saturday afternoon July 19 at 1:30 p.m. in the Larson Funeral Home in Story City and at 2:00 in Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Burial was in Mount Olivet cemetery, Randall.
The Rev. A. J. Bringle officiated. Mrs. Cecil Henderson sang at the Funeral Home and at the church service. David Larson, Richard Teigland, Frederick Larson and Ole Sopeland sang special numbers in a quartette.
Pallbearers were Amos Thompson, Lars Wicks, Curtie Henderson, Willie Wicks, Goodman Olson and William Stakey.
Life Sketch
Hiram Irving Olson was born April 28, 1887 at Randall, Iowa and died suddenly on Tuesday afternoon July 15 at Colorado Springs, Colo. where he had been visiting his daughter.
He lived in the Randall community until 1951 when he and Mrs. Olson moved to Story City. He was a retired farmer. When health would no longer permit him to farm he turned to cabinet making.
He was a son of Oliff and Betsy Olson.
On November 11, 1909 he was united in marriage to Emma Larson. To this union seven children were born. She and three children preceded him in death.
On September 18, 1946 he was united in marriage to Elsie Wittmer of Bern, Kansas. She and four children are the survivors, Orien of Story City, Howard of Radcliffe, Mrs. Marvin (Charlotte) Burley of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Willard of San Fernando, Calif.; three brothers, Martin of Story City, Lewis of Elmore, Minn. and Orville of Wood, Wisc.; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Hall of Pasadena, Calif. and Mrs. Malvyna Larson of Des Moines; and 13 grandchildren. Also one aunt, Mrs. Anna Ericson of the Story City Sunset Home.
