Charles W. Starbuck Rites Saturday At Methodist Church
Funeral services for Charles William Starbuck, 70, who died suddenly of a heart attack at his home, 1598 Lincoln Way, Thursday afternoon, May 1, were held from the Nevada Methodist church at 2:30 p. m. on Saturday with the Rev. David Ash, assisted by the Rev. C. E. Lookingbill, officiating.
Mrs. David Ash sang one song, "Beyond the Sunset," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Norman Dobson.
The many beautiful floral pieces were arranged by Mrs. William Carver and Mrs. W. A. Olson.
A Masonic service was held at the graveside.
The casket bearers were Lafe Beal, Harry Forbes, Lowell Johnson, Elmer Myers, Wilbur Myers and Oral Terhune.
Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.
Obituary
Charles Williams Starbuck was born June 8, 1887 at Piper City, Ill., son of William and Mary Starbuck. He was married in Nevada, Iowa on Oct. 28, 1908 to Helen Dayton in the bride's family home.
A resident of Nevada the last thirty years Mr. Starbuck worked as a farmer and then as a motel operator and oil station owner. He was received into membership of the Nevada Methodist church on confession of faith, April 1, 1944 by Dr. O. E. Cooley.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Moose Lodge and of the Adult Fellowship Group of the Methodist church. For three years he served his community as a city councilman.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; two sons, Donald of Rudd, Iowa, and Darrell of Nevada; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin Stenson of Waterloo and Mrs. Merle Daley of Ames; one sister, Mrs. Ida Stelter of Madison, Wis. and eleven grandchildren.

Relatives from out of town here for the last rites were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Starbuck, David and Meredith of Rudd; Mr. and Mrs. Merle Daley, Dee Ann and Marlene of Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Stenson and Mark of Waterloo, Mrs. Ida Stelter, Madison, Wis.; Mrs. Carrie L. Elwood, Toledo; Mrs. Ralph Womack, Rantoul, Ill.; H. D. Elwood, Birmingham, Mich.; Hugh Griffith, and Olaf Peterson of Ames.
Among friends from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Wiley of Bondurant, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Smith of Marshalltown, Mr. and Mrs. Kastning of Fairmont, Minn., Mrs. Maria Pahl of Amboy, Minn., Mr. Soderstrum, Huxley, Mr. and Mrs. Max Wier, Ellsworth, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Daley, Mr. and Mrs. Max Daley and Jerry, Olaf Peterson and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Whatoff, all of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Eggland, Mr. and Mrs. Art Shold and Mr. and Mrs. Vere Bielefeldt, all of Roland and Mrs. Gene Mackey of Colo.
