ABEL H. TWEDT
McCALLSBURG--Funeral services for Abel H. Twedt were held on Sunday afternoon at the Erickson Funeral Home and at the Bergen Lutheran church in Roland with Rev. Allen Nelson in charge.
During the services at the funeral home Orris Osheim of Roland sang "Faith of Our Fathers" and at the church service Harris Twedt of Radcliffe, sang "Some Day the Silver Cord Will Break" and "Den Store Veda Flok."
The pallbearers were Gerhard Amdahl, Leonard Twedt, Otis Twedt, Orris Osheim, Hiram Twedt and Samuel Twedt, all nephews.
Burial was in the Roland cemetery.
Life Sketch
Abel H. Twedt, son of Hans and Guri Twedt was born on Feb. 9, 1861 near Roland and died April 10, at his home in McCallsburg, Iowa at the age of 97 years, 2 months and one day.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended the Bergen Lutheran church as long as his health permitted and was still a member of this church at the time of his death.
Mr. Twedt was united in marriage to Nellie Jacobs in 1888. To this union nine children were born. Survivors are his six children Louise Holm of Compton, Calif., Hans of Story City, Carl and Clarence of McCallsburg, Arthur of Radcliffe and Alick of Nevada; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sam and Andrew Twedt, and one sister, Julia, Mrs. Olaus Osheim, all of Roland.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two children who died in infancy, his wife, a daughter, Sadie, three grandchildren, two sisters and five brothers.
Among those attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Brewick, Bangor, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Ulridk Danilson, Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Danilson, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bowen and baby, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Hanson, Mrs. Adelia Bowen, Mrs. Vernon Bowen, all of Bangor, Wis., Mrs. Fran Mess of Sparta, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Halver Twedt of Fairmont, Minn. and Mr. and Mrs. Slyvester Holm and family of Marshalltown.
Others were from Mason City, Clear Lake, Radcliffe, Garden City, Ellsworth, Ames, Story City, Stratford, Ankeny, Nevada, Roland and McCallsburg.
