Ora L. Stemler Rites Held Here On Thursday P.M.

Funeral services for Ora L. Stemler, 61, were held from the Nevada E.U.B. church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Donald M. Gruber officiating.

Two songs "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "In the Garden" were sung by Mrs. Howard Erickson, accompanied by Miss Beeula Settle at the organ.

The floral offerings were cared for by Mrs. Clarence See, Mrs. Harold Bloomberg and Mrs. C. A. Ryan.

The casket bearers were Harold Bloomberg, Emmett Scott, Clarence See, William Shickell, Brink Shipler and Cyril Stratton.

Burial was in the Elwell cemetery near Cambridge.

Obituary--Ora Stemler

Ora Leroy Stemler was born Aug. 17, 1897 in Kansas, a son of Peter and Alma Stemler, and died at the Story County Hospital as a result of a heart attack, on Feb. 25, 1958.

Ora came to Iowa and was married to Lizzie Ligans on April 11, 1922. Three children are left to mourn his passing; Dorothy, Mrs. Robert H. Thompson; Leroy, and Laura, Mrs. Gene Corbin, all of Nevada. He also leaves one aunt, Bena Rhineschmidt and one uncle, John Stemler, 7 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by one sister, and by 5 brothers, 4 of whom died in infancy.

Ora spent the last 40 years in Story county 27 of them on the farm south of Nevada. He was a member of the Nevada Evangelical United Brethren Church where he held the offices of Steward and Trustee, and where he was a faithful attendant and worker.
