MRS. CLARA BROWN
CAMBRIDGE--Funeral service for Clara Belle Brown were held from the Cambridge Methodist church on Monday, Feb. 3 at 2:00 p. m. with the Rev. Mark Wettland officiating assisted by Rev. Grace Anderson. Music was furnished by Arlin Severson accompanied by Neoma Gardner at the piano. Maggie Sesker and Audrey Jordon were in charge of the flowers.
Casket bearers were Herbert Severson, Lonnie Elliott, Duane Severson, Marvin McBride, Earl Severson and Glen Brown. Interment was in the Cambridge cemetery.
Life Sketch
Clara Belle Brown, daughter of Dewitt and Comfort Hanks, was born Aug. 3, 1876 on a farm near Cambridge. She was taken to the Story County Hospital in Nevada on Jan. 9, where she died on Jan. 31, 1958, having reached the age of 81 years, 5 months and 28 days.
She grew to womanhood and lived her entire life in Story county.
She was united in marriage to Henry Brown at the Methodist parsonage in Nevada on May 2, 1899. To this union were born 3 daughter, Mrs. Harold McBride (Gladys), Mrs. Howard Severson (Thelma), Mrs. Ivin Elliott (Esther) and 3 sons Arthur of Nevada, John of Des Moines and Guy of Ogden, Utah.
Mrs. Brown joined the Cambridge Methodist church at an early age where she was a member and worker until her health prevented her from attending.
Survivors are her husband, Henry, their 6 children, 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 sister, Mrs. Dessie Scott of Cambridge and a host of other relatives and friends.
Two sisters Mrs. Alice Huff and Mrs. Lou Harrison and a brother, Edward C. Hanks preceded her in death.
