Peter Chelsvig Dead.
Special to the JOURNAL.
SLATER, July 16.--Peter Chelsvig, a well known pioneer citizen of Palestine township died at his home in Huxley at an early hour Thursday Morning after an extended illness. Cancer of the Stomach was the cause of death. The deceased was a native of Norway, was 74 years of age and had lived in and near Huxley for the past forty years. He was a man of excellent reputation among his neighbors, kind to his family and know as one of the substantial citizens of the township. He is mourned by a wife, five children and a host of friends. The funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon a Lincoln church in Huxley.SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Peder/Peter Kjellesvig/Chelsvig/Chelesvig is buried in the Lincoln Cemetery under the name "PEDER KJELLESVIG" beside his wife, Olena (Apland) Kjellesvig. His five children are: Rachel (Chelsvig) Nervig of Eagle Grove, Iowa; Albert Chelsvig (enumerated in early census as "Brit") but buried near his parents as ALBERT KJELLESVIG, Ole Pedderson Chelsvig of Palestine Township, Story County, Iowa, Tom Chelsvig/Chelesvig/Kjellesvig buried near his parents as TOM KJELLESVIG, and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Chelsvig) Anderson of Eagle Grove, Iowa (Mrs. Andrew C. Anderson.)
