LAURA L. JACKSON

COLLINS -- Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 30 in the Pursel Davis Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Marshalltown for Mrs. Laura L. Jackson. She died Monday in the Mercy hospital where she was taken following a fall when she suffered a stroke. She was 85 years, 7 months and 30 days old.

Services were in charge of Dr. J. K. Delahooke and burial was in the Evergreen cemetery at Collins.

Life Sketch

Laura, daughter of Prince Albert and Lucetta Kitchel was born in the Clyde neighborhood in Jasper County southeast of Collins March 8, 1872 and spent her early life in that community.

She was married to John Jackson in 1891. Following their marriage they lived in Collins and Rhodes moving the Marshalltown in 1936. Mr. Jackson died in 1938 and about eight years ago Mrs. Jackson made her home with her sister Mrs. Gertrude Darling in Rhodes and two months ago she came to Marshalltown to make her home with her son, Dean.

Surviving Mrs. Jackson are three sons, Fred, John and Dean all of Marshalltown, nine grandchildren, 12 great=grandchildren, two sisters Mrs. Gertrude Darling of Newton, Mrs. Kate Stevens of Des Moines and one brother Warren A. Kitchel of Collins. She was preceded in death by her parents, three children, one brother and one sister.

Mrs. Jackson was a member of the Methodist Church, D.A.R., Tent No. 5, DUV and the Women's Bible Class.
