VIOLET M. STONE
Violet M. Stone, 98, of Zearing died Tuesday, May 19, 1985 at Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames, Ia.
She was born Dec. 10, 1886, in Iowa, and lived most of her life in the Zearing area, with the exception of a few years at Benedict, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, all her brothers and sisters, her husband, Boyd Stone, and her only child, Edgar Reed.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Doris (Mrs. Charles) Whitaker of Nevada, Wayne Reed of Ottumwa, Ia. an Barbara (Mrs. Keith) Bradrick of Fremont, Neb., eight great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren, and her daughter-in-law, Wilma Reed of Zearing.
Mrs. Stone had lived in Colonial Manor and its predecessor nursing home in Zearing for the past 18 years.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post of Zearing.
Funeral services were Thursday, March 21, at 1:30 p. m. at Fredregill Funeral Home, Zearing. Burial was in Zearing Cemetery. Rev. Eldon Jandebeur officiated.
Friends were invited to call at the funeral home after 5:30 p. m. Wednesday.
SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Census shows Violet Mabel Davis was born in South Dakota, not Iowa as stated. She was the daughter of John Davis and Huldah Marie Coulter. She married (1) Charles E. Reed 24 November 1904 in Zearing, Story County, Iowa. She married (2) Boyd D. Stone 24 December 1925.
