Final Services For Mrs. Henry Thompson

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Henry Thompson, 84, who passed away on Tuesday, April 18, at a nursing home in Eagle Grove, were held at Salem's church in Roland on Friday afternoon, April 21, with the Rev. Olaf Holen in charge.

Interment was in the Roland cemetery.

A short prayer service was held at the Erickson Funeral Home, prior to rites in the church. O. S. Boyd sang a solo at the prayer services and also at the church, as did Otto Hanson at the church.

Pallbearers were Oscar E. Twedt, Jacob Erickson, M. O. Rod, Tom Sampson and Philip Martens.

Obituary

Mrs. Sarah Ann Thompson daughter of Ellert and Seri Watney, was born in LaSalle county, Illinois, on Nov. 7, 1865. She came with her parents to the Roland community when an infant and has since been a resident here, with the exception of 12 years when she and her husband lived with their son, the late Dr. Paul Thompson in Forest City.

She was married on March 6, 1886 to Henry Thompson, by the late Rev. C. C. Holter.

Mr. and Mrs. Thompson lived on the Thompson homestead a mile south of Roland, until 1916 when they moved to their new home in Roland.

Mr. Thompson passed away in 1948.

Survivors

She is survived by a stepdaughter, Mrs. A. J. Severson of North Long Beach, Cal.; four sons Elliott and Cyrus of Roland and Milton and Irvin of Story City; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was a life-long member of the Salem's church and active in the Ladies Aid.

Mrs. Thompson had been a patient at the rest home the past seven months and prior to that time had been at the Jewell General hospital in Jewell.

These from a distance in attendance at the last rites came from Des Moines, Iowa City, Forest City, Eagle Grove, Ames, Marshalltown, LeGrand, Nevada, Story City, McCallsburg and Garden City.
