Funeral Services for Mrs. Lois Leih [should be Funeral Services for Mrs. Lars Lein]

Huxley, Dec. 26--Funeral services for Mrs. Lars Lein who passed away Thursday morning, were held Sunday afternoon. There was a brief prayer service by Dr. Andersen at the home at 1:15 p. m. and a vocal solo "The Old Rugged Cross" was sung by Jeffery Richardson of near Kelley.The service at the Fjeldberg church at Huxley was held at 2:00 p. m. in charge of Dr. J. N. Andersen who preached the sermon using the text "We must through much tribulation enter into the Kingdom of God." Before the sermon there were two vocal solos sung "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" by Irene Berhow and "I Need Thee Every Hour" by Mae Ford of Kelley. Following the sermon "What a Friend we have in Jesus" was sung by the choir and another solo "Den Store Hvide Flok Vi Se" by Mae Ford. The floral offerings were beautiful and there were donation to the missions in the memory of Mrs. Lein by the Fjeldberg Ladies Aid and several groups of relatives, neighbors and friends. The pall bearers were the five sons Oscar, Haldor, Lawrence, Minard and Orlin and Herbert McArthur of Ames. Interment was in the Fjeldberg cemetery. It was a large funeral many coming from Des Moines, Story City, Roland, Ames and surrounding towns.
Stena Wicks daughter of Halvor and Helga Wicks was born Jan. 24, 1873 near Huxley, Iowa. With her parents she later moved to a farm near Estherville where she was confirmed in the Lutheran church of that place. She was united in marriage to Lars Lein on May 15, 1894. To this union ten children were born eight of whom still survive. One died in infancy and Helga died Nov. 8, 1933. She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Mrs. T. N. Dueland of near Nevada, Mrs. Roy Larson of near Ames and Alice of Des Moines; five sons Oscar of Fairmont, Minn., Haldor of Story City, Lawrence of Ankeny, Minard of Polk City and Orlin of near Kelley. She is also survived by two sisters Mrs. Oliver Richardsona of Slater and Mrs. A. J. Tweedt of Pasadena, Calif. There are also 13 grandchildren besides a great host of relatives and friends.
The first six years of her married life was spent in Estherville after which she and her family moved to their farm about 3 1/2 miles north west of Huxley where they have resided since that time now nearly 34 years ago. She was a member of the Fjeldberg church and before her illness was an active worker in church and Ladies Aid. She had been ill the past four months and had spent all of that time at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines with the exception of one and a half weeks. Her daughter Alice who is a nurse was with her all this time. The cause of her death was heart trouble, liver and kidney complications. She passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 20, having reached the age of 61 years, 10 months and 26 days.
