THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, July 3, 1902, page 4, column 4. "OBITUARY - Miss Hazeltine Glass was born in Connelsville, Pa., December 5, 1848, and died at her home in Maxwell June 27, 1902, age fifty-three years, six months and twenty-two days.. Miss Glass came to Iowa in 1851 and settled in Scott county, near Davenport, she came to Story county in 1894 and settled on a farm near Maxwell where she lived until she moved into town. Miss Glass had been ill for about two years, but was a most patient sufferer, never complaining although at times her pains would seem almost unendurable. She was a lady for whom everyone had the highest respect and she was always willing to do whatever she could to help others along. Nothing but the highest words of praise could be spoken for her. The funeral was conducted at the house, Mr. J. R. Wood, her Sunday school teacher, led in prayer, there was no sermon. The floral contributions were many and beautiful thus showing the high esteem in which she was held. The remains were interred in the Maxwell cemetery. The sorrowing friends** have the sympathy of all in their sad bereavement." **Editorial note, used from the original newspaper account.

THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, July 3, 1902, page 4, column 2. "Mrs. W. L. Scott, of Boulder, Colo., came Sunday to be in attendance at the funeral of her sister, Miss Hazeltine Glass, but was too late, owing to the failure of making railroad connections at Omaha. She will remain for some little time and visit friends."
