AGED MAN DIES AT DAUGHTER'S HOME

FATHER OF MRS. L. F. RICHARDSON PASSED AWAY SATURDAY MORNING

Collins, Jan. 28--H. W. Shank, 86, father of Mrs. L. F. Richardson died at her home Saturday morning, Jan. 26 after a brief illness.

A short service was held at the home of Dr. and Mrs. L. F. Richardson Sunday morning at 9:30, Rev. Adamson in charge. At noon the body was taken to Cedar Rapids, his old home, for funeral services and burial.

Henry William Shank was born in Washington county, Maryland, March 8, 1843. He was married to Margaret Dietrich at Washington, D. C. Dec. 12, 1867. To this union three children were born, Charles E., William H. and Gertrude.

In 1880 the family moved to a farm near Fairfax, Linn county and resided there until 1884 when they moved to the town Fairfax.

After the death of the wife and mother Sept. 5, 1908, Mr. Shank moved to Cedar Rapids making his home with his sons, he came to Collins to make his home with his daughter Gertrude, where he passed away Jan. 26, 1929.

Mr. Shank was a Civil war veteran, being a member of Co. B. First Maryland Cavalry, a member of the Mt. Herman I. O. O. F. lodge of Cedar Rapids, Ia., A. F. and A. M. lodge of Fairfax, G. A. R. Post, Cedar Rapids and Trinity Methodist church of Cedar Rapids of which he was a consistent attendant.

Surviving members of the family are the daughter Mrs. L. F. Richardson, her two sons Ronald and Frankln of Collins and children of his son Charles Stewart and Mamie Shank of Cedar Rapids.
