Obituary

Peder Buland, son of Holgar and Martha Buland, was born in Nestrand, Norway, November 17, 1867.

He was united in marriage to Marguerita Ringe in November 1886. The surviving children of this union are Martha (Mrs. Charles Hennick) and O. A. Buland of Cambridge. The first year of their married life they migrated to the United States to join relatives in Illinois and Iowa. His first employment was for the Milwaukee Railroad. Later he entered the business world and for many years was a partner of the Buland-Hill firm.

During this time he took an active interest in lay work and enrolled in the Theological Seminary in St. Paul. Following this he was called to the charge in Wisconsin, but favored his home church. Her he served for 27 years, both Palestine and Nazareth congregations.

He then accepted the superintendency of the Sunset Home at Story City, where he served for seven years.

The last few years, because of his advancing age he found it necessary to be in the hospital a number of times.

A few weeks ago he entered the Iowa Lutheran Home at Madrid at which place he died, having reached the age of 92 years, 1 month and 26 days.

Besides his two children he leaves 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a large number of friends.
