Haukoos Funeral Services on Sunday
McCallsburg, Feb. 6--The funeral of Lars Haukoos, 55, was held Sunday afternoon at the Lutheran church with Rev. H. N. Bakke, officiating. The music was furnished by Mrs. O. E. Ritland and Miss Fern Christian who sang "Rock of Ages" and also a song in the Norwegian language. Mrs. Ray Skartvedt played the piano.
The pall bearers were Andy Thompson, R. E. Baumgardner, Geo. Shearer, A. C. Hanson, J. S. Thompson and T. O. Tegland. Burial was made in the Warren township cemetery.
Lars Haukoos, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Haukoos was born Oct. 25, 1873 and died Jan 31, 1929 at Iowa sanitarium at Nevada at the age of 55 years. He was born on the farm northwest of town and came with his parent to ton several years ago where he has since made his home. Since the death of his father a few years ago, he has bee a great comfort to his mother who has been quite poorly.
Lars himself has been quite poorly for some time and went to the sanitarium for treatments shortly after Christmas. He continued to grow weaker and was found he head cancer of the liver, and was too weak to undergo an operation.
The church was filled with sympathizing relatives and friends.
He is survived by his mother Mrs. Margaret Haukoos and sister Mrs. Julia Hauskins of Cedar Rapids, and brother Peter of Walters, Minn., Martin and Carl of this place and Oscar of Woden, Ia.
All of these were present at the funeral. Joseph Johnson, a brother of Mrs. Haukoos and Mrs. P. T. Johnson and son Jesse all of Story City were also present.
The flowers were many and beautiful. Mrs. Haukoos and children are extended they sympathy of the community in the loss of their son and brother.
