Funeral Services For Edward Spurling Held on Friday
Zearing, Nov. 13--Funeral services for Edward Spurling, who passed away at Mount Pleasant last Monday, were held Friday afternoon at the Zearing Evangelical church. Rev. C. E. Lookingbill was in charge of the services, assisted by Rev. Fuller. Interment took place in the Zearing cemetery.
The following brief life sketch was read at the services:
"Edward Spurling, the son of Jack and Mary Spurling, was born on June 2, 1875. As a young man he moved to a farm near McCallsburg where he resided for a number of years. He was united in marriage to Dena Anderson on July 31, 1912. To this union five children were born one of whom Nellie passed away 7 years ago. He engaged in farming until a few years ago when his health began to fail and he moved to Zearing where he resided until health conditions made it necessary for him to go to the state hospital at Mt. Pleasant where he passed away at the age of 69 years, six months and 4 days on Nov. 6, 1944. Surviving him are, his widow, three daughters, Mrs. J. W. Philips of West Des Moines, one son Everett of the U. S. Navy over seas. Also three brothers Albert, William and Charley all of Nevada. There are also 5 grand children and a host of other relatives and friends.
