Funeral Services for Mrs. Virgil Williams at Methodist Church
Funeral rites for Mrs. Virgil Williams, 37, of near Shipley, who died Sunday were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Nevada Methodist church with Dr. C. D. Loose in charge, after which the body was taken to Iowa Falls for interment. The church was well filled with neighbors and friends from both the Shipley neighborhood and from around Iowa Falls where the family had formerly lived.
The following life sketch of the deceased was read by the minister during the service:
"Margaret Louise McRoberts, daughter of Henry and Emma McRoberts, was born at Bellevue, Neb., Jan. 12, 1903, and passed away at the Mary Greeley hospital in Ames, Sept. 15, 1940 at the age of 37 years, 8 months and 3 days.
"Margaret grew to girlhood in the Bellvue community, attending the schools there through her second year of high school. In 1920 she came with her parents to Iowa and settled on a farm near Iowa Falls. There she continued her high school work, graduating from the Iowa Falls high school with the class of 1922, and for two years following her graduation she taught school near Iowa Falls.
"On July 8, 1924 she was united in marriage to Virgil Williams. To this union three children were born Janet, Marian and Norma all at home. The family lived near Iowa Falls until about five years ago, and have made their home in the Shipley community for the past three years, where Mrs. Williams endeared herself to a large circle of friends.
"She was converted in early childhood, and joined the Presbyterian church in Bellevue. Upon moving to Iowa she joined in the fellowship of the Methodist church of which church she remained a faithful member until her death. She had a firm faith in Christ, and passed away with her hope steadfast in him.
"She leaves to mourn her early departure her husband, Virgil Williams; her three daughters, Janet, Marian and Norma; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry McRoberts of Iowa Falls; two brothers, Nelson of Omaha, and Charles of Iowa Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Phyllis Rainville of Walker, and Miss Helen McRoberts of Claremont, Cal.; besides a large circle of other relatives and friends.
