Funeral Services Held Thursday For Mrs. Ida Viland
Slater, Aug. 5--Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the Riis funeral home for Mrs. Ida Viland, 74, former Slater resident who passed away Monday afternoon at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines. The services were in charge of Rev. C. S. Kleckner of the West Des Moines Christian church. She was buried in the Slater cemetery south of town. Pallbearers were Oscar Fritz, E. C. Rood, Chas. Skortman, Lars Erickson, Martin Helland, and Martin Nerness.
Ida Frovick Viland was born in Norway, a daughter of Muns and Rognold Frovick. She came to America when she was about 18 years of age and was employed in Slater where she was united in marriage to Rasmus P. Viland. Mr. Viland was a prominent pioneer business man of Slater. He preceded his wife in death in May of 1930.
For the past several years Mrs. Viand has been making her home with her children. She is survived by two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Charlotte Dobbe of Huxley, Mrs. Doris Carnahan of Des Moines, Milo Viland of Huxley and Paul Viland.
