Lina Lepley Bushman was born August 18, 1857, near Union, Iowa, and passed away at Eldora, Iowa, October 13, 1929 at the age of 72 years, one month and 25 days. She has lived a greater portion of her life in Hardin county. She was united in marriage to Salim A. Bushman June 1, 1879. To this union were born seven children, five sons and two daughter. They are: Walter of Turner, Montana; Nellie Hallett of Gifford, Ia.; Warren of McCallsburg; Ross of St. Anthony; Roxca Madole of Buckeye; Vallie and Lester deceased. There remains one sister Ellen Bretz of Fresno, Calif. Early in life she became a christian and united with the Evangelical church of Evergreen. She was an untiring worker in the church through the years.
In 1914 she fell and broke her wrist, in 1919 she fell again this time breaking her hip. These falls left her in a weakened condition so she has been a great sufferer.
She was a loving wife and a kind mother and friend to all who knew her. The funeral was held at the Sheppard church near Gifford Thursday afternoon, Rev. Albert R. Rice of the Congregational church officiating.
The pallbearers were the three sons, two son-in-laws and a grandson, Walter, Warren and Ross Bushman, Mr. Hallett; Mr. Madole and Ervin Bushman.
There were many beautiful flowers.
Burial was made in the church cemetery.
Although Mrs. Bushman was a resident of Eldora at the time of her death the greater part of her life had been spent in the vicinity of McCallsburg. Mr. and Mrs. Bushman lived for many years on a farm northeast of town just over the line in Hardin county and after retiring from farm life moved to McCallsburg where they lived until after Mrs. Bushman became quite poorly then they moved to Eldora to be nearer the daughters.
Mrs. Bushman was a member of the Pilgrim Sunday School class and the Dorcas Society of the Presbyterian church while here and took an active part as long as her health permitted.
Mrs. Bushman had been in her usual health previous to her death which came very suddenly Sunday evening, Oct. 13, after an illness of about five minutes with an attack of heart failure. The family are extended the sympathy of this community in the loss of their wife and mother.
