Former Nevada Man Passed Away in California

Word of the recent death of Claude E. Wells, 58, former Nevada man, who had lived in California for the past 35 years, has reached Nevada friends of the family.

Mr. Wells was a son of the late Calvin Wells and the widow of Inger Wells and was a member of a pioneer family of Nevada.

The father died a few years ago at the family home at San Jose, and now the passing of the son leaves the widow, Mrs. Inger Wells, with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Edmonia Wells, ad her children, Mildred A. and Wilbur W. Wells.

Death occurred at the home in San Jose, January 5, according to a clipping from a San Jose paper. The obituary reads:

"Funeral services will be held this afternoon for Claude Eldon Wells, employee of the Anderson-Barngrover company for the last 25 years, who died at his home here January 5 at the age 58 years.

"A resident of California for the last 35 years, Wells was a native of Nevada, Iowa, being born there September 12, 1875. He lived to early manhood on his father's farm. Coming to California, he worked for five years with a gold digging concern before making his home in San Jose.

"The services will be held at 2:30 p. m. at the funeral chapel of Curry & Gripenstraw with the Rev. N. P. Patterson, pastor of the Fist Presbyterian church, officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Emil Meyer, pastor of Bethel Lutheran church. Organ solos will be played by Clarence Robinson. Pall bearers will be Wallace Nash, Freeman Rodger, C. J. Finley, Peter Sorenson, Leslie Sheffield and R. J. Hoeller.

"Wells is survived by his widow, Mrs. Edmonia A. Wells*, and two children, Mildred A. ad Wilbur W. Wells. He is the son of Inger Wells*."

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Claud/Claude Eldon Wells was the son of Calvin Wilson Wells and Ingerborg Hoel. He was married to Edmonia Arrington.
