THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, March 30, 1916, page 1. "MRS. D. E. FAIDLEY - Last Wednesday Mrs. D. E. Faidley passed away after an illness of nearly three months. On January 4th Mrs. Faidley was stricken with paralysis and at her own request was move to the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. M. Trotter, where on Sunday last she sustained a second stoke from which she failed to rally, passing away about 6:30 Wednesday evening. Sarah A. Meyers was born near Myersdale, Somerset county, Penn., February 5, 1850, and departed this life March 22, 1916, aged sixty-six years, one month and seventeen days. Deceased was a daughter of Samuel H. and Barbara Meyers and the eldest of eleven children, all of whom are living and present at the funeral. On March 26, 1876, she was united in marriage to D. E. Faidley. To this union were born six children, one having preceded her in death, the remaining five being present. She leaves to mourn their loss a husband, five children, six brothers, four sisters and a host of relatives and friends. The children are Ira D. and Harve E., of Des Moines; Mrs. Elsie Hill, of Mt. Morris, Ill.; Mrs. Clara Trotter and Frank of Maxwell. Mrs. Faidley united with the Brethren church a few years previous to her marriage and has ever been a loyal and consistent member. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the country Church of the Brethren and was attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. The service was conducted by Rev. John Robison, pastor of the Des Moines church, assisted by C. E. Lookingbill. The six brothers of the deceased acted as pall bearers, having acted in the same capacity at the burial of their father and mother.** Aside from the non-resident children, those in attendance at the funeral were: Samuel Faidley, of Kansas City, Mo.; Harry Faidley, of Grand Island, Neb.; U. S. Meyers, of Blue Earth, Minn. The following poem was selected by Mrs. Faidley before her death to be read at her funeral, the wish being complied with by the minister in charge: "In Memory of Our Dear Mother - You have gone from our home dear mother. We have given you a last farewell. You have met with loved ones gone before where the good and true ever dwell. Your friends and kindred dear, How hard with you to part. But God can dry all tears, and heal a broken heart. Our God has called you home to a better land that this. From a world of toil and care, to a land of joy and bliss. This life is like a dream, on earth how short our stay. God calls us one by one, to a never ending day. It was hard to see thee dying, hard to watch thy fleeting breath; to fold thy hand, to close thine eyes, and feel the truth that this is death. But well we know thou'rt with the angels, on a bright and shining shore, and that on some blessed morning, we shall clasp thy hand once more." Card of Thanks - We sincerely thank those who so kindly assisted us during the last illness and death of our beloved wife and mother. D. E.
