THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday June 13, 1913, page 1. "OBITUARY - William Enfield, Sr., was born December 25, 1839, and died in the home of his son, W. C. Enfield, in Maxwell, June 11, 1913, living to the age of seventy-three years, six months and fourteen days. Mr. Enfield was born in Summerset **(editorial note, should be spelled Somerset) county, Pennsylvania, and in 1854 came with his parents to Johnson county, Iowa, where he was united in holy matrimony to Catherine Schrock. To this union five children were born, of which all remain to mourn the departure of a loving father, except one which died in infancy. The first five years of his married life was spent on a farm in Johnson county, Iowa. After which he and his wife moved to Polk county, Iowa, on a farm near Maxwell, where he spent thirty-nine years. Mr. Enfield, while in the prime of life, united with the Brethren church and lived a faithful and consistent Christian life until the Lord came and took him home. Peace be to his ashes. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. D. Fiscel at the old home church, south of town, attended by a large number of friends and relatives, the grandsons being pall bearers. All the children were at the funeral but one - A. C. Enfield - who could not be present on account of an accident which confined him to his home. The remains were laid to rest in the Brethren cemetery. CARD OF THANKS - The children and grandchildren of the late Wm. Enfield, Sr., desire to express their thanks to the friends for help and sympathy during their bereavement."
