THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, April 19, 1923, page 1, column 2. "MRS. ELIZABETH DAVIS. - Elizabeth Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Williams, was born in Wales, September 28, 1855, and departed this life April 12, 1923, at Maxwell, Iowa, at the age of sixty-seven years, six months and fifteen days, after an illness of two and one-half years. On June 12, 1873, she was united in marriage to David Davis. To this happy union were born seven children, two boys and five girls. In 1880 Mr. and Mrs. Davis and family moved from Wales to Story county, Iowa, where both lived until their death. Mr. Davis preceded his companion in death May 8, 1902, and was laid to rest in the Maxwell cemetery. Mrs. Davis began the Christian life while a young woman and united with the Baptist church, later uniting with the Presbyterian church of Maxwell, where she remained a faithful member until the Heavenly Father called her to her reward. She was a faithful member of the Rebekah lodge at Maxwell. Mrs. Davis was a very king and loving mother, a good neighbor and a very patient sufferer, and though the many months of suffering she manifested a beautiful Christian spirit, flowing out of a lovely Christian life. There remains to mourn her departure, one brother, David Williams, of Color, Iowa, and the following children: Mrs. Mary Rupp, Mrs. Etta Evans, Mrs. Ruth Whitney, LeRoy Davis and Mrs. Leota Scott, all of Maxwell; William Davis, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Cordelia Baker, of Nevada, Iowa, besides twenty-six grandchildren and many other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. H. D. Robinson and she was laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Maxwell cemetery. At the church the Rebekah funeral service was carried out following the sermon. Card of Thanks. - We wish to thank the friends and neighbors for their many acts of kindness and assistance during the last illness and following the death of our beloved mother. Also our appreciation of the beautiful floral offerings. The Children of Mrs. Elizabeth Davis."
