THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 26, 1899, page 5, column _. "It is with a feeling of profound sorrow we chronicle the sudden death of Mrs. John M. Coughenour at her home near Colo, last Friday morning. Mrs. Coughenour attended church on last Wednesday evening, apparently in her usual health, but on Friday morning was taken seriously ill and sent her little daughter for aid, but when help arrived she was unconscious and never rallied. The doctor pronounced her disease apoplexy of the heart. The funeral services were held at the United Brethren church, Dalton, at 10:30 Saturday, conducted by Rev. Pudy, of Collins. The deceased was a faithful conscientious, Christian woman beloved by all who knew her. She leaves a husband, one little girl and numerous relatives to mourn their loss and await the call for the reunion in the better land."
