Funeral Services For Donald Willaby Held at Madrid
Slater, April 16 -- Funeral services for Donald Willaby were held Tuesday afternoon from the Sundberg Funeral Home in Madrid. Evangelists Jelto Reverts and Robert Sterling, friends of the family, were in charge of the services. They took their texts from Psalm 116 which was a favorite of Donald.
A quartet composed of evangelist Lois Nutt, Ruby Edwards and Darwin and Delbert Johnson, sang two numbers. Mrs. Alvah Moss and Mary Moss sang a duet. There were many beautiful floral offerings in memory of the deceased. Friends of Donald served as pallbearers. Interment was made in the Fairview cemetery, south of Madrid.
Obituary
Donald Dennis Willaby was born at Mountain Lake, Minnesota, April 18, 1923, and was nearly 23 years at the time of his death. Donald lived in Slater several years with his mother and one brother, Irvin. Donald attended the Slater schools. The family moved to Madrid about a year ago. While Donald was employed on a farm near Woodward last fall, he had a serious automobile accident. It left him paralyzed from the waist down and injured his spinal cord. He was taken to the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines where he lingered until his death April 7. The auto accident occurred on Dec. 1, 1945.
Donald was a fine young man and a devoted son. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Hannah Willaby and a brother, Irvin Willaby.
