Obituary of Mrs. Paul A. Olson

Hildora Elise Theresa Jensen was born at Fredrikstad, Norway, on June 22, 1872, and died at her home in Story City, Iowa, June 6, 1946, thus lacking two weeks of reaching the age of 74 years.

Her parents, Edward and Elise Jensen immigrated to America in 1897, and for several years made their home at Pullman, near Chicago, where Mr. Jensen and his eldest son, Richard, were employed in the making of the famous Pullman cars. At Pullman, Hildora had nearly all the public school education she ever received.

In 1883 the Jensen family moved to a farm 7 miles west the Randall. In 1887 when Hildora was 16 years old her mother passed away and from that time on she made her own living working as a seamstress on men's clothing while making her home for the most part with her married sisters.

On January 1, 1898, Hildora Jensen was united in marriage to Paul A. Olson. To this union three sons and one daughter were born. The first two sons have preceded her to the better land, Earl as an infant and Paul a little over a year ago.

In the fall of 1905 she and her family moved to Story City, and here had been her home for over 40 years.

On February 12, 1941, she was stricken with paralysis of the limbs of her right side and never recovered their use, though for five years she was apparently in better health than she had been before, except that she was confined to her bed. About ten days before her death a change set in, very noticeable to those who attended her. She rallied a few days and seemed to regain her former health, when again a change took place and she died during the the early hours of Thursday, June 6.

Mrs. Olson was a member of the Grace Evangelical church where she became a mainstay in the various organizations. She taught a Sunday school class for many years, was president of the Ladies Aid for 19 ears and was also communion steward for about 20 years. She always felt that she was a one-talent person, but also regarded it very important to use that talent.

Mrs. Olson is survived by her husband, one son, Arthur, of Story City, a daughter, Mrs. Olive Rosenberger of Estherville, Iowa, five grandsons and many nieces and nephews. Her two brothers and four sisters have preceded her in death, as have her parents.
