THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, October 20, 1921, page 1, column 2. "DEATH OF ROBERT CAIRNS. - Robert Cairns, Sr., who has been bedfast for a number of months, passed away at his home, west of Loring, Monday evening. Mr. Cairns was eighty-eight years of age and one of the oldest settlers of that part of the county. He is survived by his wife, a daughter and three sons. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's church, Elkhart, Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, after which the body will be taken to Des Moines and interment made in St. Ambrose cemetery."
