DEATH OF SPOUSE: THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, September 19, 1918, page 1. "MRS. WM. BYERS DEAD - The sad and sudden death of Mrs. Wm. Byers occurred at four o'clock Tuesday afternoon of last week at her home in Marcus, Iowa. Mrs. Byers had been sick since the preceding Friday. Relatives her received word of her death at the same time as letters reached them informing them of the first illness. The cause of death was hemorrhage of the stomach. Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Byers attended the funeral which was held at Marcus last Friday. Mrs. Byers is survived by her husband, one brother and two sisters, Mr. Byers has the sympathy of his many Maxwell friends in the loss of his life companion."
