THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, December 13, 1923, page 1, column 2. "Mrs. Leila Mills-Byers - Mrs. Leila Mills-Byers, former resident of Maxwell, passed away at her home in Mena, Ark., Sunday, December 2. The following announcement appeared in the MENA EVENING STAR of December 3rd: Mrs. L. A. Byers, wife of L. E. Byers, passed away Sunday at the family home on Southland Avenue. Death was not unexpected as Mrs. Byers had been in poor health for many months. Decedent had been a resident of Mena for many years and was well known. She was a native of Iowa and was aged fifty-six years. The funeral services were held Monday morning, with Rev. T. A. Park, of Ashdown, in charge. Burial was at Odd Fellows cemetery. Besides the husband there are left two children, Mary L., 16, and Guy I., 13. A sister, Mrs. J. H. Harsh, whose home is at Colton, Calif., has been here for three months, during which time she has __ left the bedside of her suffering relative." Mrs. Byers will be remembered by the older residents, having left here about twenty years ago."
