THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, January 1, 1925, page 1. "DEATH ROLL HEAVY IN PAST TEN DAYS - MRS. T. S. BYERS - Ada Jane, daughter of Thomas and Mary Oxley, was born June 8, 1872, near Peoria City, Polk county, Iowa, and departed this life December 23, 1924, at the age of fifty-two years, six months and fifteen days, at her home near Maxwell. In early life she united with the M. P. church at Peoria City, but in later years transferred her membership to the Presbyterian church at Maxwell, where she was a faithful attendant as long as her health permitted. She was united in marriage to Shannon Byers, November 26, 1893. (Continued on page 2** actually page 4) To this happy union three children were born, Vera Robertson, of Elkhart; Eva, at home, and Paul, who died in infancy. She leaves to mourn their loss, besides her husband and two daughters, three grandsons, Forest, Verle and Marvin Robertson; four sisters, Mrs. John Swarm, of Maxwell; Mrs. Minnie Pring, of Des Moines; Mrs. G. A. Kulow and Mrs. S. P. Sperlin, both of Ames; two brothers, J. W. Oxley, of Cogswell, N. D., and J. T. Oxley, of Larkspur, Colo. Her parents preceded her in death several years ago. Besides the members of the immediate family she is mourned by a large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and a host of friends. The death of Mrs. Byers was the break in the family circle. Mrs. Byers was a faithful and loving wife and mother and a kind neighbor and friend. The Heavenly Father has called her from her earthly toil to that land where we will never say good bye. The funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. D. Robinson, with interment in the Peoria cemetery. Relatives and friends attending the funeral from a distance are as follows: Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Kulow and daughter, Geneva, Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Sperlin and daughter, Kathryn, of Ames; Mrs. G. E. Pring and Mrs. Ben Cook, of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bell and Mr. and Mrs. Burl Bell, of Newton; J. W. Byers, of Marcus, Iowa, and Charles Hatcher, of Mechanicsville, Iowa. CARD OF THANKS - We wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the kind neighbors and friends who have been so kind during the illness and death of our wife and mother, and also for the beautiful flowers received. T. S. Byers and Eva. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Robertson."
