Last Rites For Wm. Earl See Held Saturday
Funeral services for William Earl See, 68, long time resident of the Maxwell community, were held at the Iowa Center church on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the Rev. C. E. Lookingbill officiating.
The very large number in attendance at the last rites was tribute to the esteem in which the deceased was held.
The singers were Martin Troup, Harry Fackler and Rev. Hulsebus. Mrs. Art Porter was at the piano.
The casket bearers were A. M. Dobson, Carl Hill, Joe McIntyre, Fred Kohler, Wm. Goodby and Ole Hulderson. Committal was in the Iowa Center cemetery.
The following obituary was read by Rev. Lookingbill who also brought words of spiritual comfort.
Obituary
William Earl See, son of Jonathan and Mary See, was born in Story county, April 4, 1880, and departed this life February 15, 1949, at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 11 days.
He was united in marriage to Catherine Barfer*, June 22, 1904, at Nevada. To this union were born five daughters and one son.
Mr. See leaves to mourn his passing his wife, his son, Benjamin of Nevada, his daughters, Mrs. Ethel Ball of Collins, Mrs. Mary Gardner of Maxwell, Mrs. Ida Banks of Zearing, Mrs. Sarah Smith of Nevada, three brothers, George See of Colo, J. B. See of Crook, Colorado, M. J. See of Grinnell, and a step-brother, Wm. Roush of Des Moines.
He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Mary See of Des Moines, Mrs. Jennie Harper of Grinnell, and Mrs. Rose Belcher of Des Moines. Seventeen grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive him. He also leaves other relatives and a host of friends.
The parents of the deceased, one daughter Viola, a grandson Ronald Ball, three brothers, two sisters and two half-sisters preceded him in death.
