Hold Final Service For Winburn B. Allen
Funeral services were held in the Zearing Christian church recently for Winburg Bruce Allen, who died March 10 in Sioux Falls, S. Dak., with the Rev. Carlyle Smith in charge. Interment was in the Zearing cemetery.
Casket bearers and Burnell Womeldorff, Curtis Womeldorff, Don Grimm, K. L. Cerka, Cliff Carver and Russell Carver.
Music was furnished by Eldon Crain, Glenn McBride, Carroll Bailey and Gordon Lundy, with Mrs. Maxine Lundy as accompanist. The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Bessie Holveck and Mrs. Catherine Turner. The Brouhard Funeral home was in charge of the arrangements.
Obituary
Winburn Bruce Allen, the oldest son of Cressie and Ina Allen, was born April 24, 1905, in Zearing, and passed away March 10 at his home in Sioux Falls, S. Dak., at the age of 43 years, 10 months and 14 days. He had been ill the past two years.
He attended school in Zearing from 1910 to 1921 and served in the peacetime Army from 1927 to 1930, spending most of this time in foreign duty in the Philippine Islands.
On May 5, 1931, he was married to Blanche Falan in Wahalla, N. Dak., and to this union one daughter was born. The family lived in Hampton, Iowa, until four years ago, when they moved to Sioux Falls. He joined the Christian church in Zearing and later was a member of the church at Hampton.
Survivors
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Donna, and his mother, Mrs. Ina Allen, all of Sioux Falls, and four brothers, Arlo of Des Moines, Milo and Lyle of Marion, Iowa, and Dale of Wichita, Kansas. Also surviving are four aunts and a host of friends.
