BEACH DROPS DEAD - Prominent Collins Township farmer is Found Dead in Barn Yard Last Friday Evening. - Defective Heart The Cause of Death. - Mr. Beach was Apparently in His Usual Health and at the Time of His Death was Engaged in Doing the Evening Chores. The uncertainty of life and death was most forcibly impressed on the people of this community last Friday evening when it was reported that Ab. Beach had been found dead in the barn lot at his farm east of town. He had been in Maxwell all afternoon making Christmas purchases and was evidently in the very best of health, meeting his many friends in the same jovial manner that had made him known to everyone in this vicinity where he had long made his home. He returned home from town about dark and after supper went out to finish up his work for the night. He remained away from the house longer than usual but the family supposed he had gone over to some of the neighbors and thought nothing of his absence, but as time went by and he did not return the neighbors were called over the telephone, but he had not been seen by any of them.. No response being given when his name was called by Mrs. Beach, she and her daughters went down to the barn to make an investigation and after a short search his lifeless body was found near the hog yard where he had fallen while feeding the hogs, a partly filled bucket of feed still being clasped by one of his hands. Death had been instantaneous and he had been dead for some time, the fatal stroke probably coming very shortly after leaving the house. Albert Augustus Beach was born in Whitenville, Cass county, Michigan, April 20, 1859, and died at his home near Maxwell, Iowa, December 22, 1911, aged fifty-two years, eight months and two days. In 1864 he , with his parents, two brothers and a sister, came to Iowa. He was married April 22, 1889, to Miss Jennie Watkins, and to them were born two children, Mabel Ann and Eva Fern. He leaves to mourn his death, his widow, two daughters and one sister. Funeral services, which were attended by a large number of neighbors and friends, were held in the Christian church in Maxwell, Sunday afternoon, December 24th, at one o'clock, conducted by Rev. Spainhour, of Collins and interment was made in the Iowa Center cemetery. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family who are burdened with sorrow at this time when most hearts are made glad by the joys of the glad Christmas time.
