Final Rites Sunday For Victor A. Kulow
Funeral services for Victor A. Kulow, 77, prominent farmer southwest of Maxwell in Polk county, who passed away Thursday morning, May 18, in the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, were held Sunday afternoon, May 21, from the Peoria Methodist church with the Rev. Kelley of the Peoria church in charge.
Mrs. Ray Gooden of Maxwell sang "In the Garden" and "Abide With Me", accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Arthur Porter.
Mrs. Ernest Pearson and Mrs. Joe Aldrich had charge of many and beautiful flowers. Ushers were Wayne Brown and Linden Caple.
Interment was in the family lot in Peoria cemetery, which is a part of the farm where he spent his life. Pall bearers were Ernest Pearson, Harry Gibson, Charley Swalwell, Findley Stebbins, Dillard Lowe and Richard Green.
Obituary
Victor August Kulow was born March 30, 1873, son of Fredrick and Adeline Hunt Kulow in Washington township, Polk county, Iowa, and departed life in Des Moines, Iowa, May 18, 1950, at the age of 77 years, one month and 18 days.
When a small boy he moved with his parents from his birthplace to the farm near Peoria, where he lived the remaining years of his long and useful life.
While he never married his home was always open to the family and through the years many have found a sanctuary there. He loved children and it was a common sight to see them riding together or meeting him in town for the treat he loved to provide "Uncle Vic's" watermelons, which he grew with great pride, made many children happy.
Survivors
He is survived by a half-sister, Mrs. Louis Uhl of Mitchellville; three sisters, Mrs. Lida Swarm of Des Mones, Mrs. Dudley (Merle) Sherrill and Mrs. Clyde (Lora) Eagleson, both of Boise, Idaho, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends and relatives attended the rites from Boise, Idaho, Mitchellville, Mason City, Bagley, Des Moines, Nevada and other surrounding towns.
